Students taking the practical test to obtain a driver’s license had to seek refuge after a shooting started during the exam. The case occurred last Thursday afternoon (16) on Ilha do Governador, north of Rio de Janeiro.
A Military Police operation in communities close to the race site led to a confrontation between security forces and criminals.
Videos published on social media show the moment the driving school test is interrupted. See below:
In the video, it is possible to see that Detran students and instructors seek protection near a wall at the test site. “Look at what we are going through in the Detran test”, says the author of the record. Nobody was injured.
In a statement, Detran-RJ reported that around 60 students were safely removed from the location and will be invited to take the test on a new date, at no extra cost.
When contacted, the Military Police informed that the operation that caused the postponement of the exam was carried out in Morro do Dendê and Vila Joaniza. The objective of the operation was to curb the expansion of organized crime in the community and the destruction of barricades built to obstruct the passage of residents.
In the Dendê Community, one person was arrested and a pistol seized. In Vila Joaniza, 14 stolen motorcycles were recovered. In Parque Royal, two suspects were arrested, one of whom died. A pistol was seized from them, as well as ammunition and a grenade.
