The Rio de Janeiro Fire Department helicopter carried out a cinematic rescue, this Sunday (25), in Pedra do Telégrafo, in the west zone of the capital.
The victim, a woman who fractured her leg while hiking, received first aid at the top of the hill and was then transported to the Miguel Couto Municipal Hospital, to the applause of tourists, guides and other hikers there.
The rescue, carried out in a difficult to access point, with adverse weather conditions, required great skill from the pilots and rescuers.
“First, the aircraft approached the scene and firefighters disembarked, who immobilized and stabilized the patient. In a second moment, the helicopter returned to pick up the team and the young woman, performing a perfect hover, with a high degree of technical difficulty”, details the note from the Fire Department.
Pedra do Telégrafo is located in the Pedra Branca State Park, considered one of the largest urban forests in the world, measuring 12,500 hectares.
The place is sought after by tourists and residents because of its enchanting views of the wonderful city. On one side, you can see the wild beaches and the Tijuca Massif in the background. On the other side, there is a privileged view of Restinga da Marambaia and the Mangue.
The Trail takes approximately 1 hour to climb and its summit is 354 meters above sea level.
