Video from inside the car shows driver and passenger reactions after Kayky Brito was run over

A CNN had access to a video (watch below) from inside the car of the driver who ran over actor Kayky Brito in Rio de Janeiro, earlier this month. The images show the reactions of Diones Coelho da Silva and the passenger after the accident.

This Wednesday (27), the Rio de Janeiro Civil Police concluded that the driver was driving below the speed limit on Avenida Lúcio Costa, in Barra da Tijuca.

In the investigation report from the 16th DP, delegate Ângelo José Lages states that the expert reports indicate that the driver was driving his vehicle at an average of 48 km/h at the time of the collision.

The speed limit on that stretch of Avenida Lúcio Costa, at Posto 6, is 70 km/h.

The investigation also concluded that Kayky Brito accessed the road suddenly and outside the pedestrian crossing, which was a few meters away from the accident site.

“Therefore, according to what has been determined, no criminal act can be attributed to the driver of the vehicle, Diones Coelho da Silva, as he was driving at a speed below the road limit, without showing changes in his psychomotor capacity due to the consumption of alcohol (drunkenness) or any substance with a similar effect and with due attention when driving a motor vehicle, as actions were still taken to avoid the collision, despite the lack of time for reaction and braking”, concludes the delegate.

Upon conclusion, the Civil Police requests that the investigation be archived and the report will be forwarded to the Public Ministry of Rio de Janeiro (MP-RJ).

Kayky Brito remains hospitalized at Copa D’Or Hospital, in Copacabana, in the South Zone of Rio. On Tuesday (26), the actor’s sister made a post on her social network stating that he is recovering well and thanked him for the messages of support.
