Video: grandmother dies trying to save grandson from floods in the interior of SP; child survived

An elderly woman died in Aparecida, in Vale do Paraíba (SP), after being swept away by floods caused by heavy rain in the region. Rosângela Custódio, 51 years old, was trapped under a car when she was swept away by the flood. She managed to save her 11-year-old grandson. According to Civil Defense, the child was dragged, but was rescued with bruises. See the video:

The woman and child were taken to the Santa Casa de Misericórdia in Aparecida, but the woman did not resist. To date, four residences have been inspected and closed by the Civil Defense of Aparecida.

Of the four families, three were sent to a relative's house and one was sent to the city hall's shelter.

Also in a statement, Civil Defense reported that teams remain in the field supporting the affected population, in addition to accounting for losses.

In 24 hours it rained 77mm in the city.
