Video: Group is rescued in the Amazon after 4 days of waiting

Three expeditioners were rescued from a remote area of ​​Serra do Aracá, in the interior of the Amazon, after they were waiting for help for four days. Among the rescued was an elderly woman with a fracture in her leg.

According to the Military Command, the mobilization occurred after the group of five participants, who participated in a climbing expedition, trigger emergency services. The elderly woman suffered the accident while trying to go down the peak. The rescue occurred on Wednesday (21).

Serra do Aracá is known to be the Home of the El Dorado Waterfall, one of the largest in Brazil, with 353 meters high. Serra is inserted in Serra do Aracá State Park, which has more than 1.8 million hectares.

The region is quite isolated, located about 200 km from Barcelos and 534 km from Manaus, and is part of the Guyanas Plateau, in the northern region of Amazonas.

The three rescued people, including the woman with the fractured member, were transported by military aircraft to Manaus, to receive specialized care.

The other members of the expedition, in better physical conditions, followed the original trail to the starting point, where a vessel was waiting for them.
