The British army recovered several horses that escaped from the prestigious Household Cavalry and rode loose through London this Wednesday morning (24).

In a statement sent to CNN , a British Army spokesperson said: “Several military workhorses became loose during a routine exercise this morning. All the horses have now been recovered and returned to camp.” The spokesperson added: “Several employees and horses were injured and are receiving appropriate medical care.”

Six soldiers and seven horses from the Life Guards, part of the Household Cavalry, participated in an extensive exercise Wednesday morning, according to the Army.

The animals were startled when a piece of concrete fell from a conveyor belt being used on a nearby construction site and hit the ground, the army said.

Five of the horses fled, while two remained at the scene.

The army said four of the soldiers were knocked down and three were injured. These three are being examined in hospital, but are not believed to be in any life-threatening condition.
