Security cameras images caught the moment when Erik Rodrigo Batista, 38, ran over and killed a man at dawn last Friday (11) in Guarulhos in the metropolitan region of São Paulo.
The video shows the pedestrian crossing the street and, as soon as it arrives on the sidewalk, being run over violently by the luxury car that came at high speed. The image is strong and, therefore, was edited by CNN .
The victim, Cristiano Almeida da Cruz, 38, died on the spot.
The driver of Audi Q3 fled the scene without providing relief, but was arrested in the act shortly after the Military Police in the state capital.
At the police station, Erik confessed that he drank before the accident. According to the police report, he told police that he was in a happy hour, and that he drank about 8 bottles of 600ml of beer.
Despite confessing alcohol intake, Erik refused to take the breathalyzer test. According to the police, the driver of the luxury car was visibly drunk, with his voice dragged, strong ethyl odor and with motor difficulties.
The case was registered as a homicide with eventual intent, which is when the risk of killing, drunk driving and omission of relief is assumed.
