A man lost consciousness after receiving a rear naked choke from a security guard on the São Paulo subway. The case occurred at República station, in the central region of the capital of São Paulo, last Thursday (14). The scene, filmed by passengers, caused outrage on social media.
The images show the man being dragged by another security guard between the station's turnstiles.
You can hear passengers protesting the security guard's actions and calling him “racist” in the videos.
In a statement, the metro stated that it will investigate the circumstances of the security guard's action and that it “does not tolerate any form of violence”.
“The Company does not tolerate any form of violence, its employees are trained to serve passengers following a strict code of conduct. If any deviation from these principles is found, employees will be punished.”
The São Paulo Public Security Secretariat (SSP) reported that a 21-year-old man registered a report of bodily injury after the approach that occurred on Thursday night (14).
According to the ministry, the boy reported that he was unable to validate his ticket and tried to go through the turnstile with a colleague. “Station agents saw the action and approached him. The victim was rescued by members of the public and the case was registered at the 23rd DP (Perdizes), where exams were requested from the IML. The young man was advised regarding the deadline for criminal representation”, says the ministry.
