A municipal guard was caught the moment he fired at a man during an approach in Pelourinho in Salvador. According to reports, the boy was trying to intervene in the arrest of his brother, who had been immobilized and would have been assaulted with a shock pistol.

After the incident, the Municipal Civil Guard (GCM) announced, on Tuesday (11), the removal of the agent from operational activities. The guard will be allocated in administrative functions while the corporation’s corregedoria conducts the investigation.
According to GCM, a team was on routine patrol when it was triggered based on drug trafficking allegations in the region. “Upon arriving at the scene, agents found individuals with the informed characteristics and tried to take the approach. During the procedure, the man resisted the action of agents, making it necessary to use the force to ensure the safety of the staff and the population, ”the corporation explained in a statement.
The images, made by a witness, show the moment when the man approached was already surrendered, while his brother tried to intercede in the police action. Also according to the Municipal Civil Guard, the shooting was made by the agent to disperse an individual who approached aggressively – which, for GCM, was imminently risk to the physical integrity of the corporation.
In a statement, GCM reported that it was necessary to use an electrical conductivity pistol to contain man. He was attended at the Vale dos Barris Emergency Care Unit (UPA), when he received medical attention for the removal of the pistol darts, and then taken to the Flagrant Center, where he was heard and released.
As for the guard, the corporation reported that, according to the standard procedure, it will undergo psychological follow -up and recycling. “There is a standard procedure where agents involved in a firearm firing are directed to follow -up with psychologist and recycling. Therefore, they are in administrative activity, in this case when the fact is analyzed by the Corregedoria ”, explained the Municipal Civil Guard.
