A video released this week shows an attempted murder that took place inside the São José do Belmonte courthouse, in the interior of Pernambuco. According to the Court of Justice, the shooter, identified as Cristiano Alves Terto, was attending a jury session and shot at the defendant, Francisco Cleidivaldo Mariano de Moura, who is accused of having killed Cristiano's father.
The crime occurred in November last year, but the images were only revealed now. At the time, the shooter, aged 27, tried to kill another, aged 38.

The man who fired the shots was arrested shortly after the incident. The 38-caliber revolver used in the crime was seized, according to the Pernambuco Military Police. The injured boy was rescued at Serra Talhada hospital and survived.
Images from the court's security cameras show the moment the shooter stands up towards the victim, who is sitting, and fires the shots.
In the confusion, Francisco tries to escape the shots and receives blows to the head, until he falls to the ground. At that moment, people who were in the audience helped the injured victim.
The following day, Cristiano Alves Terto had his arrest converted into preventive detention. He was taken to the São José do Belmonte Public Prison.
