The UAE witnessed record rainfall with 254mm falling in Al Ain in less than 24 hours on Tuesday, according to the national meteorological center.
That was the highest number since records began in 1949, before the country was established in 1971.
Zaheer Kunnath, who captured the video from the airport, told Reuters that the plane he was on had a very difficult takeoff and thanked the pilots and crew.
Dubai International Airport, one of the world's busiest, said it was facing significant disruptions after heavy rain delayed or diverted flights and affected crews on Wednesday.
