Video: Portugal Ultracerea Leader is sick the 2nd time in the week

The leader of the Portuguese ultra-right party arrived passed out on Thursday (15) during an outdoor rally before Sunday’s general elections (18). He was rushed to a hospital.

A video caught the moment when 42 -year -old André Ventura puts his hand on his chest and tries to undo his tie before falling into his advisers, who carried him. The rally was held in Odemira, in southern Portugal.

The case happens two days after suffering a similar incident at another party event.

Ventura was discharged from a hospital in Faro on Wednesday (14), after being ill for the first time. The hospital reported that he had an esophageal spasm caused by gastric reflux and high blood pressure.

Marta Silva, deputy of the arrival, told the CNN Portugal that the electrocardiogram performed in an ambulance immediately after the second collapse showed that “everything is fine with the heart” and that it was probably another esophageal spasm.

In a video posted on X on Wednesday, referring to this week’s previous episode, Ventura said he was recovering well from what he called “a very, very scary episode I felt for the first time in his life.”

Ascension of arrival in Portugal

Ventura founded the party arrives in 2019, defending harder penalties for criminals, including chemical castration for repeat offenders. He also called for the end of the immigration policy of Portuguese “open doors” and accused the main political parties to perpetuate corruption.

The arrival became the third largest parliamentary force in 2022 and quadrupled its parliamentary chairs in an election last year to 50, after competing with a platform to combat corruption and immigration.

In any case, analysts assess that the party owes its success to the eloquence, charisma and “good look” of Ventura.

Ventura holds a postgraduate degree in law and has already graduated a priest, but has stood out as a sports commentator on TV. He gained notoriety in 2018 with incendiary comments against the Gypsy community.

Before Sunday’s elections, opinion polls show the arrival in third place, with little difference from the 18% result in 2024.

Thus, the meteoric rise of the acronym was apparently stagnant by recent scandals involving several senior members.
