Students from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP) protest and occupy part of the Perdizes campus, on Wednesday (21), as a form of denunciation to cases of racism and infrastructure problems of the site.
Last Monday (19), part of the ceiling of one of the university’s buildings fell, just when students gathered to discuss possible demonstrations. Another critical point was a rat found in the cafeteria this Wednesday.
The protest of students, through collectives and academic centers, addresses the neglect of the structure of the college and cites problems with the academic body.
According to a ‘proposed letter’, students require points of change from the university’s maintainer, including the elaboration of the anti -racist curriculum, quota implementation for transagers and gender and gender literacy course for teachers.

“From today, May 19, the 100th anniversary of the anti -racist leader Malcolm X, official stoppage was triggeredwith the university’s old building taken by students who claim structural changes against academic racism and the precariousness of the conditions of student permanenceespecially for black, trans and marginalized bodies, ”says an excerpt from the grade signed by several students of the students.
At another point, the manifesto points to the structural issue of PUC-SP facilities. “The symbolic moment that marked the beginning of the stoppage was the Falling part of the roof of the ‘old’ buildingprecisely at the moment the Assembly deliberated, for a large majority, in favor of the occupation of space, ”he cites another part of the document.
