Video: revelation tea goes viral when it backfires in Rio; understand the case

A revelation tea provided funny scenes and entertained guests in Nova Friburgo, in Rio de Janeiro, last Sunday (19). Businessman Diego Mejdalani, 28, shared a video of the moment he and his wife, Thaís Motroni, 27, discovered the sex of the baby they are expecting. What made it funny was when one of the blue smoke cannons hit Diego.

The video shows the moment when Diego and Thaís prepare to open a box with blue balloons, while other smoke cannons of the same color are activated. One of them aims directly at the businessman, dyeing his shorts blue and scaring him. The scene made Thaís and the guests laugh, and quickly went viral on social media.

“When the happiest moment of your life also becomes the funniest”, wrote Diego in the caption of the publication. “I’m going to be a father to a boy! I couldn’t help but post it for you to laugh with me!”, he added.

The joke took over the internet, with comments like “And so smurfs are born”.

Diego Mejdalani told CNN details of what happened. The reveal tea took place at 4pm, Thaís Motroni, who is expecting her first child, is in the 18th week of pregnancy.

“We already thought it was a boy, even though we didn’t have a preference for which sex it would be, but we already thought it was mainly because I had dreamed it a few weeks before, and several friends and family members had also dreamed,” he revealed.

About the scare, Diego explains: “I was very excited, but at the time I was scared, the only thing I thought was that my butt had caught fire,” he said, laughing.

The jet was very strong, but Diego was not injured and did not need medical attention. “It was pretty strong, but not to the point of hurting or anything. It took me a few seconds to understand what color had come out.”

Despite the unforeseen event, the party continued as normal. “I was dirty the whole party and took it as a joke. Everyone thought it was hilarious,” said Diego. The repercussion was immediate: “Less than 10 minutes after the incident, two friends had already edited the video and posted it on Instagram. The viral effect was immediate, and I’m receiving a lot of messages.”
