Satire: Video on Instagram satirizes the participation of former president Lula (PT) in a rally in Belém, in a place that was destroyed by heavy rain the day before the event. The post uses an excerpt from a recording published on a PT federal deputy’s page and, in the sequence, puts images of the structure collapsing in a storm and ends with a meme of a person saying “He won’t, no”, the same phrase used in the caption. By suggesting that Lula would not go to the place, the video tries to discourage people from attending the act. The content was published the day before the rally, scheduled for the 1st of September. Contrary to what the post suggests, the campaign was carried out with the participation of Lula.
Investigated Content: Video on Instagram with the caption “He won’t!!!” shows a woman presenting a covered area at the Espaço Náutico Marine Club, in Belém, Pará, “where the act with President Lula and our senator Beto Faro will be held”, as she says. In the sequence, an image of a storm that destroys the place and, later, a person saying “he won’t, no”.

Completion of Proof: It is satire a video claiming that former president and candidate Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) would not participate in an event in Belém with federal deputy Beto Faro, from the same party, because the place where the act would take place was destroyed by a storm a day earlier. The post shows images of a girl presenting the place, at Espaço Náutico Marine Club, and then a roof being destroyed by the rain. The disinformation content ends with a person, in a video meme, repeating “He won’t, no”, same phrase used in the caption.
The storm, in fact, occurred and destroyed the metallic structure of the Marine Club, but, according to Lula’s press office, the structure was rebuilt and the PT rally was held, as shown in a video published by Power 360 and reporting of National Journal. The information about the act was also confirmed by the Marine Club.
Published on a humor profile on Instagram, the content was verified at the request of a reader, who sent the images to Comprova through the WhatsApp number (11) 97045-4984. The project also checks satirical content when you realize that there are people taking them for real.
To an Instagram user who writes “Oh yes he will! And we’ll be there!”, the profile owner replies “Well, I can’t wait to not go!”. To another who publishes “he came and was too beautiful. He does the L, he does the big heart”, the author writes, “it was too beautiful, according to the official figures 10 thousand people! They forgot to detail the number 20% were earning 30 reais to flag!”, without presenting evidence.
To the other person, who points out that the rain could have even killed someone, he replies: “Friend, if it had been a tragedy where there were dead, this page would certainly not be making fun of this episode! But do you really want something to worry about? In these meetings public initiatives such as drug liberation and abortion are discussed…I don’t even need to say that it is wrong according to the Bible!”, also without providing any evidence.
Scope of publication: As of September 15, the post had been viewed 4,400 times and had 150 likes on Instagram.
What the author of the publication says: Comprova tried to contact us by direct message on Instagram, but received no response until the publication of this text.
How do we check: We initially called the Marine Club and the person who answered confirmed that the rally was held. We also spoke, via text message on WhatsApp, with Lula’s press office, with deputy Beto Faro’s team and, via direct Instagram message, with Daynara Calandrini, who presents one of the videos used in the satirical post.
When searching for keywords on Google, such as “Marine Club” and “Lula”, the result showed reports about the rain and the act, such as texts from Power 360 and G1. in matters of National Journal it’s from The Liberal we were able to confirm that the rally took place.
The event
“We are here at the Marine Club, where the act will be held with President Lula and our senator Beto Faro. The space is right next to the UFPA (Federal University of Pará) and will guarantee comfort and safety for all the caravans that will come to meet us”, says the woman who appears in the first part of the verified video. She refers to the rally that would be held on September 1 of this year at Espaço Náutico Marine Club, in the Guamá neighborhood of Belém. The video uses an excerpt from the original, posted on Instagram by PT federal deputy Beto Faro, who is running for the Senate, on August 31st.
By adding the images of the structure collapsing due to the heavy rain that day, the author of the satirical post states that the event would not occur, but it did not. The act was carried out, as shown News and the channels of EN It’s from Power 360 on YouTube, who streamed the rally live and recorded it. In addition, a person who spoke to the report by phone from the Marine Club confirmed the event was held – she did not want to be identified.
The event, called All Together for Parálasted approximately two hours and had the participation of Lula and supporters, such as Beto Faro and Randolfe Rodrigues (Rede), who is part of the presidential candidate’s team.
The woman who appears in the first part of the verified montage is Daynara Calandrini. In contact with the report, she claimed to be a presenter on the social networks of Beto Faro, a PT militant and secretary of the party’s youth organization in the state of Pará. About the event, Daynara said that “everything went well”.
The rain
According to report by The Liberal, the structure for the rally was being assembled when it was hit by heavy rain and fell on 31 August. According to the same vehicle, the act was kept.
On the same day, the Diário do Pará reported that afternoon “can be considered one of the most complicated in recent months” by the residents of Belém due to bad weather. The storm that fell on the city brought numerous damages and disorders in several neighborhoods of the capital of Pará.
Beto Faro’s team sent Comprova note issued after the storm, on August 31. In it, he stated that, “due to the heavy rains in Belém, the campaign of the Brasil da Esperança Coalition clarifies that the Fire Department is inspecting the place” and that “three people have been treated and have already been released”. People affected by the structure were involved in setting up the event.
The profile
The satirical content was published on Instagram by the profile @mangacomfebre, “comedian Anderson Freitas’s humor page”, as the description shows.
The profile’s first post was published on August 18, 2021. Since then, 21 content has been posted, including the one verified here, which was the most viewed – in addition to that, only one more, from March, was viewed more than 1,000 times .
why do we investigate: Comprova investigates suspicious content that goes viral on social media about the pandemic, public policies of the federal government and presidential elections. False or misleading content and satire involving presidential candidates, such as the piece verified here, can influence voters, who should not make their choices based on materials of this type, but on true and reliable information.
