The wall of a school collapsed due to heavy rains that hit the city of Esmeraldas, in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte (MG), last Wednesday (20).
According to the Civil Defense of the capital of Minas Gerais, until this Thursday morning (21), there was an accumulated rainfall of around 37.4 mm in Belo Horizonte alone.

Esmeraldas City Hall reported that the school is in the final stages of construction, and for this reason, there were no school activities or students on site at the time of the collapse.
Images from a security camera captured the moment the wall fell. In the video it is possible to see the force of the water, which first begins to leak and then collapses completely.
According to the city hall's note, Civil Defense and the competent bodies isolated the area and assessed the extent of the damage.
The municipal administration says it is working to resolve all issues arising from the damage caused by the rains, including assistance to affected residents.
Belo Horizonte's Civil Defense issued an alert valid until 8am on Friday (22) with the possibility of rain showers with lightning and gusts of winds of around 50 km/h.
