Images published on social networks show the moment when the ceiling of a nightclub in Santo Domingo, capital of the Dominican Republic, collapses over the public. The case happened at dawn on Tuesday (8).
A video shows a band performing while someone near the stage points out that something fell in the back of the Jet Set club. Moments later, suspended lights on the ceiling start to collapse, along with the entire roof above. Screams and bang sounds can be heard for a few seconds before the video is dark.
At least 124 people died in the collapse, and dozens were injured. Authorities claim that about 300 people were in the nightclub at the time of collapse. It is not yet known how many victims are stuck in the rubble, but rescue teams work tirelessly to find signs of life.
Desperate family members were seen outside the establishment destroyed on Wednesday (9), hoping that their loved ones would be rescued from the rubble. Others sought the names of their loved ones on lists hanging from a campaign hospital outside the place.
Jet Set is one of the most famous nightclubs in the Caribbean country.
