Two Latam planes collided this Tuesday morning (3) during movement at Congonhas airport. Nobody was injured.
Security cameras recorded the moment of the crash, which occurred when an Airbus A-320 was taxiing and hit an Airbus A-319 that was beginning the so-called pushback.
Pushback, according to the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac) “means the operation of moving, using auxiliary equipment, the stopped aircraft to the position in which it can move by its own means”.
See the moment of the crash:
In the images, it is possible to see that the plane that was stopped starts the pushback, but notices the approach of the other aircraft and tries to return. Even so, it was not possible to avoid the impact.
The aircraft that was starting the pushback, prefix PT-TMA, had damage to the rear. Images obtained by CNN show that part of the A-319 fuselage was dented.
When contacted, Latam said that “the event did not put any of the passengers and crew of both planes at risk, who were disembarked normally and in complete safety”.
“The aircraft were sent for maintenance inspections and all customers will be reaccommodated on other company flights. Latam collaborates with the investigations by Cenipa (Aeronautical Accident Investigation and Prevention Center) to clarify the event.”
Finally, the company says that it “regrets the inconvenience and emphasizes that it adopts all technical and operational measures to ensure a safe trip for everyone”.
