The Military Police commented on the video of a man being arrested on a police officer’s motorcycle in São Paulo. The video was posted on social media on Tuesday (30).
According to the PM of São Paulo, an inquiry was launched to investigate the police’s conduct and, according to the institution, his removal will be requested. The Military Police said it “repudiates” the act.
The case took place in the Vila Prudente region, on Avenida Professor Luiz Ignácio de Anhaia Mello, one of the most important thoroughfares in the east of São Paulo.
In the image, captured by a person from inside a car, it is possible to see a man tied to the trunk of a policeman’s motorcycle, who is walking on the central median.
The video drew attention on social networks for recalling practices from the period of slavery, a fact that was recalled by the National Student Union in a post on Twitter.
The video is content sensitive.
Brazil, after the abolition of slavery, see scenes of cold-blooded torture practiced by a PM, who, instead of acting in a brutal and inhumane manner, should protect. ABSURD and OUTRAGE, those are the words! pic.twitter.com/MerjV5leQ4

Former São Paulo government candidate for PSOL Guilherme Boulos spoke on his Instagram account highlighting what he called “torture”: “Brazil, more than 300 years of slavery,” said Boulos.
In the video, one of the people inside the car links the arrest to a robbery, but there is no report so far of any crime committed by the man who was imprisoned on the motorcycle.
The Public Security Secretariat confirmed the veracity of the video.
