A ship collided with a bridge in the Nansha district of Guangzhou, southern China's Guangdong province, on Thursday (22), causing the bridge to collapse and vehicles plunging into the water.
The unloaded container ship was sailing from Nanhai District in Foshan City to Nansha District in the province and collided with a bridge pier while passing through the Hongqili Waterway.
A bus was reported among the vehicles that fell into the water. Preliminary information suggests that only the driver was on the bus at the time and rescue teams were still trying to contact the driver.
Victims of the accident have not yet been confirmed and rescue efforts are ongoing.
