Video shows debris at the site where helicopter carrying Iran's president crashed

Debris and a broken helicopter tail were seen trapped between trees at a location believed to be where the plane carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi crashed.

A video taken this Monday (20) by Turkish vlogger Adem Metan showed heavy fog covering the crash site in a forest, as he pointed to remains of different parts of the aircraft.

The helicopter was carrying Raisi, the Iranian Foreign Minister and other officials when it crashed. He was flying over mountainous terrain in heavy fog on his way back from a visit to the border with Azerbaijan, an Iranian official told Reuters.

The chief of staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Mohammad Bagheri, ordered an investigation into the cause of the accident.

According to Iran's Constitution, the first vice president will assume the powers and functions of the president on an interim basis, after approval by the country's Supreme Leader.

After this, an election to choose the new leader will be held within 50 days.
