The video of a fight between a white couple and a black man at the Hilton Copacabana hotel, in Rio de Janeiro, went viral on social media.
According to the person who posted the images, the guest was attacked by the couple after receiving preferential service at the hotel – he would have a plan that gave him the right to faster service.
In the video, a white woman attacks the black man, even with security guards on the spot. The black man reacts and punches a man who is accompanying the woman. The companion faints.

HL Thompson, American music producer, posted on Twitter that the couple tried to “jump” the line of “Diamond members” at the hotel, where Thompson was also, and that the man would have cursed him with a racist curse in English after he refused to move and asked them to “respect personal space”.

Thompson said the couple later called the police, claiming he had attacked them. The producer would then have stayed at an AirBnB he had also rented, and claimed he would be staying at the Hilton just for the New Year’s party.
In a statement, a spokesman for the Hilton Rio de Janeiro Copacabana hotel said they are “aware that a video has been released showing an excerpt of a fight between guests,” and that they continue to cooperate with the police in the investigations.
A CNN he sought out HL Thompson for comment on the case, but did not get a return until the story was published.
A CNN he also got in touch with the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro, but so far, the office has not responded to the inquiries.
