A video captured by a commercial establishment in Kiev captured the exact moment when a missile fragment hit a city street, in an instant of intense traffic. The incident took place on Monday morning (29) during a massive attack against the Ukrainian capital by Russian forces.
The images show the instant the fragment falls between a car and a bus on the road. The bus continues to travel, but the car is partially hit. There are no reports of injuries in the incident.
Russia hit Kiev with a series of missile strikes on Monday in a surprise attack during the day, hours after another overnight assault on the Ukrainian capital and across the country.
Explosions were heard in central Kiev late on Monday morning, triggering sirens and sending residents running for cover as the city recovered from a typical night bombing.
Kiev’s military said it shot down 11 Russian-launched Iskander missiles in the daytime attack. A man was hospitalized after missile fragments fell in the Podilskyi district, Kiev Mayor Vitalii Klitschko said.
Serhii Popko, head of Kiev city military administration, said this attack shows that “the enemy has changed tactics – after prolonged attacks at night only, it hit a peaceful city during the day when most residents were working and away”.
Hours earlier, cities across Ukraine were hit by a wave of Russian attacks.
