A video recorded by an eyewitness and released on social networks shows the moment when the sparks fired by two flags caused the fire that killed 59 people and injured more than 100 in a nightclub in the city of Kocani, Macedonia do Norte, on Sunday (16).

The fire, which starts on the ceiling of the nightclub, was caused by the “pyrotechnic devices” used during a band’s show, according to the country’s interior ministry.
“Sparks caused the fire and the fire spread through the disco,” the folder added.
According to the ministry, the authorities arrested about 20 people after the fire, including government officials and the club manager ‘Pulse’, as well as members of the band and the son of the club owner.
Forty -seven people were treated in hospitals in Bulgaria, Greece, Serbia and Türkiye. Serbia, Czech Republic and Israel burns experts were expected in Northern Macedonia on Monday to assist the local medical team. More people would be taken to hospitals in Croatia and Romania, authorities said.
