Video: thief steals drivers stuck in traffic in the east of SP

One bicycle robber was spotted stealing drivers stuck in the congestion from Viaduct Grande São Paulo, in Vila Prudente, east of the capital. The crime happened last night (2) and was registered by a driver passing by.

The viaduct, which undergoes renovations made by the Secretariat of Urban Infrastructure and Works (SIURB) since last year, has often transit in peak hours, facilitating the action of criminals.

In the images, the suspect, wearing a black t -shirt, circulates along the pavement of the viaduct watching the vehicles stopped. Then he approaches a black car, invades the vehicle and quickly subtracts an object, which appears to be the driver’s cell phone. The thief hides the device on the body and returns to his bike.

During the escape, a second individual, who seems to be his partner, was waiting for him near the place where the bike was standing. Both flee together shortly after the crime.

In a statement, the São Paulo Public Security Secretariat (SSP-SP) reported that “ostensible and preventive policing was intensified throughout the city, focusing on the areas of the highest criminal incidence and the population’s complaints”.

To date, there is no record of the case mentioned in the Civil Police systems. Authorities point out that they are available to the victim to formalize the complaint and start investigations.

The Secretariat stressed that “the formalization of occurrences allows the investigation of cases and contributes to the planning of strategies to combat crime, as well as expand the police presence.”

Also according to SSP-SP, joint action by the Civil and Military Police resulted in the arrest and seizure of 478 offenders in the first two months of this year in the 5th Sectional area.
