Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico is at risk of death after being shot in a “politically motivated” assassination attempt as he left a government meeting this Wednesday (15), said Slovak Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok.
The criminal shot 59-year-old Fico five times. In a video it is possible to see the moment in which the prime minister is close to a group of people, separated only by a fence.
Then a man pulls out a gun and shoots. It is possible to see Fico falling to the ground, while the police try to immobilize the shooter.

Robert Fico underwent surgery hours later, according to the minister. The case took place in the city of Handlova, in central Slovakia.
He was rushed to a local hospital. He was then transported by helicopter to the regional capital, Banska Bystrica, for urgent treatment, Estok said, explaining that his condition was too serious for him to be taken to the capital Bratislava.
