The Norilsk Nickel Global Palladium Fund has listed digital exchange instruments (ETC) backed by carbon neutral nickel on the Vienna Stock Exchange.
According to a statement on the MMC Norilsk Nickel website, ETC has been added to the listing on the Vienna Stock Exchange for the carbon neutral nickel of the company’s Global Palladium Fund. The new exchange instrument is intended for institutional investors, with a minimum entry threshold of $ 100,000. Before listing on the exchange, the carbon neutral metal was tokenized on the Atomyze platform.
ETC carbon credits reflect reduced CO emissions, Norilsk Nickel says2 by the company through initiatives implemented in 2019 and 2020: modernization of the hydroelectric power plant supplying production facilities of Norilsk Nickel in the Norilsk industrial region, renewal and repair of power equipment, introduction of automated control and metering systems, reduction of heat losses in buildings and pipelines and decommissioning outdated power units. The reduction in carbon emissions has been certified by an international auditor EY.
According to Anton Berlin, Vice President and Head of Sales and Commerce at Norilsk Nickel, the launch of ETC on carbon neutral nickel demonstrates the company’s commitment to the global climate change agenda. Alexander Stoyanov, CEO of the Norilsk Nickel Global Palladium Fund, also commented on the launch of ETC on the Vienna Stock Exchange. He said:
“This is another significant achievement, and thanks to Norilsk Nickel’s efforts to reduce emissions, we are placing carbon neutral nickel backed ETCs on the market for the first time. Investors have the opportunity to gain low-cost access to nickel, which plays a critical role in the transition to clean energy sources, while ensuring that it is mined and produced responsibly. ”
Last December, Norilsk Nickel’s Global Palladium Fund listed metal-backed ETCs on the Deutsche Börse and then on the London Stock Exchange. MMC Norilsk Nickel became the first large company in Russia to use blockchain in a project tokenize trading in contracts for exchange commodities.
