The Vietnamese government has announced the start of full-scale implementation of the “National Blockchain Development Strategy.” The authorities intend to make the country the largest regional center for the development of blockchain technology.

The official document states that the development and application of blockchain will help bring the country’s digital infrastructure to a qualitatively new and advanced level.

“The government will encourage Vietnamese digital technology companies to create blockchain platforms and spread awareness about the benefits of this technology. As part of the strategy, blockchain testing centers and special technology zones will be created in the country,” the document says.

The Vietnamese government has declared that the country is pursuing ambitious goals and intends to take a leading position in the research, deployment, application and operation of blockchain technologies in the Asian region by 2030.

In particular, the government plans to create at least 20 prestigious blockchain brands, launch and maintain a government blockchain network, and have representatives in the international ranking of the top 10 blockchain educational and research institutions.

A year earlier, Vietnamese technology company DTS Group and software maker GMO announced the opening of the country’s first blockchain technology development center, the Mira Blockchain Center, in Hanoi and promised support to local blockchain startups.
