Villa Pamphili, the neighbors of Francis Kaufmann in Malta: “It was a strange guy, of few words”

In Malta he called himself Rexal Ford. In Rome, Matteo Capozzi. But for the American registry it is Charles Francis Kaufmann. 46 years old, he is the main suspect of the murder of the woman and his little girl found lifeless at Villa Pamphilj, in Rome. A man with a thousand names, who reinvented himself every time he changed the country.

In Marsascala, Malta, Francis Kaufmann – who has Californian origins – He lived between 2023 and 2024. In the Jacob apartment of Triq In-Nadur, someone else lives today, but his passage has left trace. “He lived below us,” they say to Courier Two elderly spouses. “A strange guy, of few words. We said goodbye and nothing more». Even a local merchant recalls “He and that blonde woman, they came to buy from me every now and then. She was pregnant, then they had a baby girl».

A family that officially did not exist. In the Maltese registers, in fact, Charles Francis Kaufmann is still recorded as “celibate, without children”. No wedding, no birth, no official trace of the woman and the girl, not even in hospitals: “No match with that surname has emerged so far”, explain the authorities. Not even the parish of Sant’Anna, where according to a witness the alleged marriage was celebrated, memory of the couple.

To arrive in Italy, probably at the end of March, he has once again chosen a not very traceable way: He reached Sicily with a private catamaran that started from La Valletta, eluding the controls. Perhaps with him there were also Stella, the name with which he called himself the woman, and Andromeda, as he said he was called the girl.

To support him economically, his wealthy parents. According to reports from those who met him in Ireland, “He pretended to be a film producer to keep the interest in him alive, he was actually a wanderer who lived on his parents’ pocket money». They sent him five thousand, sometimes six thousand dollars a month, to stay away from home. He did not live on the street, but in bed & breakfasts and temporary apartments, always with more telephone sims and credit cards. On the documents showed the US passport in the name of Rexal Ford, the same one who also exhibited in Italy, when the police have it stopped, at least three times, for violent quarrels with his partner: “He was repeatedly seen torn Stella, who shouted at him to stay away from the girl,” said some witnesses.

One of his most sensational inventions concerns his alleged career as a director. The title still circulates on the net The Great Culinary Battle of Maltaa film that according to the specialized sites would have been directed by him and played by actors such as (even) Jonathan Rhys Meyers. But that film never existed. No projection, no credits, no presence to official events. And in the archives of the National Center for Creativity there is no trace of that title. On IMDB, under the name of Rexal Ford, invented titles appear, others “stolen”, in which its name does not result in credits. A careful scam, which helped him get in touch with real professionals, unaware of his past. He had even written to a cameraman to propose an “Irish comedy”: «When I understood that it was a scam, I closed the relationships With him, “said the man.

The criminal curriculum is much more real. The name of Charles Francis Kaufmann appears in the American registers with Five arrests for domestic violence and attacks. He served 120 days in prison. It is precisely the FBI, involved in the investigation, that has confirmed its identity and the previous ones.

Arrested in Volos, Kaufmann asked not to return to Italyan application that complicates the analyzes of DNA and electronic devices. But the investigation continues.
