The State Traffic Safety Inspectorate (GIBDD) and the Rosgvardia track violations of traffic rules using drones already in 17 regions of Russia.

This was reported by the TASS news agency with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. As emphasized in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, drones are used in those places where the traffic police squads are located. When a drone detects an offense, information is transmitted along with the traffic police.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs explained:
To date, in the republics of Adygea, Buryatia, Ingushetia, Tatarstan and Udmurtia, Transbaikal, Krasnodar, Krasnoyarsk and Perm regions, Amur, Voronezh, Novosibirsk, Omsk, Rostov, Sverdlovsk, Tyumen regions and Moscow, in cooperation between the State Traffic Inspectorate units at the regional level and unmanned aerial vehicles to ensure road safety ”.
They resort to drones on hazardous road sections where there are no automatic photo and video recording systems. The ministry notes that the use of drones is most appropriate for identifying administrative offenses related to entering oncoming traffic and crossing road markings, as well as “preventive measures to influence road users in order to psychologically induce compliance with traffic rules.”
