Violent clashes between protesters and police officers in Argentina – protests about low pensions

In violent conflicts, demonstrators and police officers in Buenos Aires were involved in violent clashes during a demonstration in protest of low pensions in Argentina. At least 46 people were injured and the security ministry spoke of some 124 arrests. This significant restriction on the country’s budgetary costs “accompanies” the political austerity implemented by the far -right, extreme liberal president of the country, Javier Miley. Officers made extensive use of tear gas and plastic spheres against protesters, some of whom threw stones at the order of enforcement, set fire to police and waste bins, according to a report by La Nación. The newspaper spoke of 150 arrests and many injured. The Argentine Ministry of Security has spoken of 124 arrests in a press release released, adding that 26 members of the security forces were injured and hospitalized, including a trauma of a bullet that had to be operated on.
