Virgin Orbit will send a rocket into space in June: the flight will be streamed on YouTube for the first time

Virgin Orbit is preparing for its next mission. Later this month, it will send a rocket into orbit with small satellites on board, including satellites from the US Department of Defense and the Royal Netherlands Air Force. This will be Virgin Orbit’s second flight since its successful orbital launch in January this year. In addition, this mission is unique in that it will be broadcast on YouTube for the first time, and they promise to show not only the launch, but the entire flight into space.

Today, live streaming of space launches is pretty much a must, especially among companies like SpaceX, Rocket Lab, and Blue Origin. SpaceX even broadcast tests of the Starship prototype, including unsuccessful rocket launches, which were accompanied by fires and destruction.

Virgin Orbit is part of the Virgin Group, owned by British billionaire Richard Branson. The company specializes in launching small spacecraft into orbit in an unconventional way. For these purposes, a modified Boeing 747 carrier aircraft with a LauncherOne rocket is used, which is launched from under its wing at an altitude of 11 km. And in this, Virgin Orbit has certain advantages over its competitors.

Previously, Virgin Orbit did not broadcast its flights. Instead, the company provided information through its social media pages. The YouTube broadcast should provide an unprecedented overview of the rocket launch process.
