Member of the House of Representatives of Visconsin Ryan Spaude, belonging to the US Democratic Party, submitted a bill limiting the use of cryptomats to protect the local population from fraud with digital assets.

According to the bill, users will be able to convert no more than $ 1000 per day into bitcoins, and the commission levied by devices operators must be reduced. Companies that own cryptoomats are required to publish warnings about possible fraudulent transactions. If, nevertheless, the attackers stole users through crypto-thermalines, their operators must compensate for the losses to the victims.

The Visconsin prosecutor’s office supported this legislative initiative, which is designed to ensure financial security for people. According to law enforcement officers, due to the growing number of crypto-mesh, the inhabitants of Wisconsin lost thousands of dollars. Recently, the police received a complaint from a person who sent $ 40,000 to the crypto men.

Lieutenant Wisconsin Scott Goldberg said that cryptomats became a favorite tool for scammers. These devices are not regulated along with traditional ATMs, and the victims of fraud are not safe from losses. Therefore, the restrictions on the use of cryptomats in the state should prevent further losses, Goldberg hopes.

The manager from the UW Credit Union Scott Reeder noted that now the return of funds sent through cryptomats is almost impossible. People can write statements to the police, but come to a standstill – there are so many similar cases that companies and government do not have enough resources to cover losses. The Senator-Democrat from the state of Wisconsin Kelda Roys also urged local residents to be careful and under no circumstances to send money to unknown people.

Recently, the law on the protection of cryptomat users entered into force – devices operators are required to set a daily limit on transactions of $ 1000, and users have 90 days to file a complaint with law enforcement agencies.
