Vitalik Buterin announced that he has donated all the animal-related cryptocurrencies he has accumulated over the past year to charity. Such cryptocurrencies are sent to Buterin’s wallet by blockchain project developers, writes RBC Crypto.
In total, the Ethereum founder transferred 200 ETH ($530,000) to the Animal Welfare Fund. In the message, he expressed hope that the funds would go directly to charities.
Buterin has repeatedly said that memecoins could fill the niche of tokens used for charity. He believes that the time has come to fund serious social projects.
In 2021, the creator of Ethereum donated $1 billion to fight Covid-19 in India. He donated 500 Ethereum and 50 trillion Shiba Inu tokens to the India COVID-Crypto Relief fund.
At the same time, Buterin sent Ethereum and Dogelon Mars for $336 million to the non-profit Methuselah Foundation, which deals with regenerative medicine.
