The co -founder of the Ethereum Vitalik Buterin called on the developers of cryptocurrency projects to give the user real guarantees of decentralization, and not resort to marketing to “fashionable words”.

Speaking at the conference of the Ethereum community in Cannes, Buterin warned that incomplete decentralization could threaten the entire ecosystem of cryptocurrencies. Buying cryptoactives by corporations and political support for digital assets creates pressure on crypto projects, forcing to abandon the basic principles of the industry. Buterin called on the developers to return to fundamental ideals – decentralization and developments focused on users, and not on the support of large corporations.

Buterin proposed three practical tests, which, in his opinion, should undergo every cryptocurrency project to confirm genuine decentralization.

The first, so-called “care check” will allow us to evaluate: whether users will save access to their assets if the founding company completely disappears. During the second test, “on the internal attack”, you can evaluate the possible harm from the compromise of the interface or insider, who gained access to the means and information of users.

The third test, “for a trusted computing base”, could measure the volume of the code that users can trust to protect their assets. Small code bases will reduce the damage from attacks and simplify the safety audit during an independent audit, buterin noted.

Buterin criticized most of the second -level networks for the scaling of the Ethereum network and decentralized finance projects (Defi) for the presence of secret bacdors and immediate update mechanisms. Developers can change the protocols without the approval of the user, which forces to doubt the statements of developers about decentralization, said Buterin.

Recently, the co -founder of the Ethereum said that projects with digital identification can eradicate the use of pseudonyms. He mentioned the World project where the retina is scanned for the registration of users.
