Vitalik Buterin has not sold Ethereum for five years

Co-founder of the Ethereum project Vitalik Buterin stated that he has not sold coins to the network since 2018. This is how he commented on the information about the movement of capital in his wallet.

“[…] if you see an article: “Vitalik sent XXX ETH to the exchange,” this does not mean that I sold these coins. Often I donate them to charity or send them to a non-profit project. The recipient, in turn, sells them because, you know, he has expenses. I have not “implemented” Ethereum for personal gain since 2018,” he said.

Buterin made his statement amid the news that almost $15 million in USDC was transferred from his account to the Gemini exchange. In a comment to the press, a representative of the Ethereum Foundation said that he simply confirmed the transaction from a multi-signature wallet.

Prior to this, in September 2023, Buterin sent a total of 2,421 ETH to centralized exchanges within 10 days. Being a large holder, he somehow influences the movement of the price trend.
