The co -founder of the Ethereum Vitalik Buterin and the developer of the blockchain Toni Wahrstätter proposed to introduce gas limit for transactions at 16.77 million in order to increase the security of the network.

The improvement of the EIP-7983 represented by BUERIN and Warszetgger is designed to increase the safety of the Ethereum and resistance to DOS atams, while simplifying the calculation of the cost of onache operations.

“If the transaction gas limit exceeds 16.77 million, then it will not get into the block and will be rejected at the formation stage. This value will allow the majority of current tasks, including the deployment of smart contracts and complex operations in Defi, while ensuring stable operation of the network, ”the description of the EIP-7983 noted.

Butaterin and Warstetter noticed that the planned change would only affect a small part of users and decentralized applications, since almost all current transactions do not exceed the gas limit (the maximum value that can be used for transactions in one block), set at 36 million.

According to them, the decision can improve work with virtual machines based on evidence with zero disclosure, and will motivate to break large transactions into smaller ones.

Earlier, Vitalik Buterin called on the developers of cryptocurrency projects to give the user real guarantees of decentralization, and not resort to marketing to “fashionable words”.
