Co-founder of the Ethereum project Vitalik Buterin proposed reducing the threshold for staking from 32 ETH to 16 ETH or 24 ETH. However, the developer proposes to balance this with increased bandwidth requirements.
I think there’s a sane version of this where we recognize that 32 ETH is much more of a barrier than bandwidth reqs, and temporarily do a trade where we up the bandwidth reqs a bit and in exchange drop the staking deposit minimum to eg. 16 or 24 ETH.
It’s net-good for both…

Let us remind you that staking involves blocking assets in a smart contract to generate passive income.
Thus Buterin responded to publication one of the community members on the topic of solo staking. The user noted that this type of activity must be supported, otherwise Ethereum will lose decentralization.
In the comments, he was told that no one disputes the advisability of solo staking; the whole question is in the requirements. Allegedly, not every user can overcome the entry barrier of 32 ETH and a bandwidth of about 25 Mbps.
Buterin noted that the developers could consider a kind of agreement that would involve increasing throughput requirements and lowering the threshold from 32 ETH to 16 ETH or 24 ETH to run a validator.
