Today, June 15, the TJ news outlet, citing its sources, reported that the VKontakte social network has launched a new system that will offer to replace obscene words with stickers corresponding to the meaning, but with more intelligent content. This function works both in private messages and in the form of comments, and users also have a choice of two free sets of stickers – with the Goose (male gender and the corresponding verbs) and the Abusive cat (female). A total of 48 images are obtained, allowing you to smooth out the controversy in the comments and more. Additionally, there are paid sets with other colorful characters.
Unfortunately, representatives of the social network did not say exactly how the mechanism that selects stickers for the context of profanity works. But they said that there are more than 70 variations on the list of swear words at the moment, which are likely to be gradually refined and expanded.
“***, *****, ****** and all sorts of different *****”, – an eloquent commentary from the press service of VKontakte.
Alexey Kapitansky, head of the VKontakte sticker platform, said that the release of these sets and the corresponding function was timed to coincide with the recent Russian Language Day. And, according to him, this opportunity to replace obscene words with intelligent stickers allows you to translate negativity into a constructive one.

However, this innovation is probably directly related to the fact that in February of this year, a law obliging social networks to block prohibited content (including with swear words and a call to participate in uncoordinated actions) came into force. Now social networks are obliged to delete these publications, otherwise they will be imposed an impressive fine. Although, of course, a system proposing to replace profanity with stickers with a bird will hardly help.
