VKontakte launched an electric scooter rental service

The Russian social network VKontakte, together with Citymobil, launched a service for renting electric scooters called VKontakte Rental. It will act as an aggregator offering services from other companies. The first partner was the Urent service for renting electric scooters and bicycles by the minute, with time other companies providing such services will be connected to it. At the first stage, the new service is available in St. Petersburg, Samara and Rostov-on-Don, and by the end of the year it will work in 50 more cities of Russia. This was reported by the RBC edition with reference to the press service of the social network.

It is reported that “VKontakte Rental” can be found in the “Services” tab of the VK super application, and this is the first example of integrating a micromobility service into a social network. The cost of the ride depends on the model of the scooter and the rate per minute. All prices and tariffs can be found in the application. In order to rent a scooter, you need to find a suitable vehicle on the map in the app, scan the QR code and activate the scooter. Users can choose from Ninebot, Okai and Xiaomi models.

Earlier, VKontakte and Citymobil have already launched the Taxi VKontakte service, which made it possible to call a taxi from the community without switching to another application. As of November 2020, there were more than 12.8 thousand scooters for rent in Russia. Most of these services are provided in Moscow, the capital accounts for 52% of leased vehicles.
