The information publication “RBC” with reference to its sources in VK (not to be confused with the social network “VKontakte” – previously the company was called Mail.ru Group) today, October 28, published a report on the company’s segment revenue for the third quarter of 2021. It turned out that VK is doing very well – revenue for the outgoing quarter increased by 19% compared to the same period last year, reaching 30.41 billion rubles.
This became possible thanks to the development of the advertising direction and the social network. VKontakte again showed decent revenue growth of 29%, reaching 7 billion (the largest growth among all subsidiaries of VK), and advertising revenue for the third quarter grew by 28.2% and amounted to 12.23 billion rubles. In addition, the company reported on the monthly audience of its two social networks – VKontakte attracted 72 million active users, Odnoklassniki traditionally lose in this indicator, showing 38 million users. Social networks did not show dramatic changes in the monthly audience.
But the subsidiary gaming company MY.GAMES, for example, in comparison with last year showed an increase of only 2.3% (only 10.1 billion rubles). In the message of the VK company it is indicated that the growth of the gaming direction has slowed down due to the fact that a very high mark was reached last year due to the pandemic. Moreover, the subsidiary company VK has not launched a single major release in the first nine months of this year, which, accordingly, influenced the final result. But educational technologies, for which Skillbox Holding Limited is responsible, showed an increase of 56% – the development of this area is going so well that the management of VK even changed the forecast for annual revenue from 9 to 10 billion rubles.
