Vladimir Putin is preparing to host more than 20 foreign leaders

Russian President Vladimir Putin will host from tomorrow Tuesday 22nd to 24th October more than twenty foreign heads of state and government, as part of a meeting of allies and partners with the aim of demonstrating Russia’s strength and the failure of the West’s attempt to isolate it after it attacked in Ukraine. The summit of BRICS, an alliance of emerging economies, is expected to gather in Kazan, on the banks of the Volga, 24 foreign leaders and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, according to the Kremlin, which boasts that it is the “most important diplomatic event ever organized never in Russia”. The meeting, in defiance of Western sanctions imposed on Russia, will take place as Moscow gains ground on the frontlines of the war in Ukraine and forges close alliances with the US’s main rivals — China, Iran and North Korea.
