VLC for Android has been massively updated: new widgets and full customization

10 months after the release of the previous major update number 3.4, the VLC player has been updated to version 3.5. It brought not only various improvements and fixes, but also fresh features, among which the new widgets stand out the most.

The player widgets are available in several sizes and shapes: the large ones have a standard shape in the form of a horizontally lying rectangle (progress track in the Play / Pause button), the middle ones are made in the form of a circle with a progress ring, and the smallest ones look like a pill with a progress rim . All of them can be customized in detail and support Material You from Android 12/13, that is, they adapt to the color of the wallpaper:

Another significant innovation is the complete customization of the playback player (unnecessary functions can be disabled).

Among other things, the developers have improved the interface on tablets and foldable devices – the latter has been given a lot of attention, because it’s not just optimization for large screens, but automatic form factor detection and adaptation to it.

The full list of innovations is available on the blog.
