VMA 2023 takes place this Tuesday (12) with a presentation by Anitta; know what to expect

One of the main international music awards, the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) takes place this Tuesday night (12), in New Jersey, in the United States.

One year after becoming the first Brazilian to win a VMA, singer Anitta will perform once again on the awards stage, in addition to competing in one of the categories.

The ceremony takes place from 9pm (Brasília time) and will be broadcast on the Pluto TV streaming service and on pay TV on the MTV channel.

According to Billboard, Anitta should take the stage twice: once presenting a medley of songs from her latest EP, “Funk Generation: A Favela Love Story”, which should include the songs “Funk Rave”, “Casi Casi” and “Used To Be”, and another with Korean k-pop group Tomorrow X Together (TXT) – with whom she is expected to release the single “Back for More” this week.

On Saturday (9), she published photos of rehearsals for the awards on social media.

The Brazilian will compete in the “best Latin music video” category for the video for “Funk Rave” (watch below). Check out the full list of nominees at the end of the article.

She competes in the category alongside Bad Bunny , Karol G , Shakira , Rosalía , Eslabon Armed , Weight Feather It is Group Frontier .

The artist with the most nominations for this year’s VMAs is singer Taylor Swift, who leads with eight nominations, including Artist of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Photography.

In second place is singer SZA, who received six nominations for the production of her album “SOS”. Next, Doja Cat, Kim Petras, Miley Cyrus, Olivia Rodrigo and Sam Smith, with five nominations each.
