Singer Anderson Leonardo, lead singer of the group Molejo, died this Friday (26), in Rio de Janeiro, where he was admitted to a private hospital. At 51 years old, the artist had been treating inguinal cancer since 2022, a rare type of tumor that affects the entire groin region.
Anderson had been hospitalized for the first time at the end of February this year, and was discharged on March 19th. However, at the end of March, he had to return to the hospital. At the beginning of this month he was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to treat kidney failure.
On the morning of April 22, Anderson was transferred again to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) due to a drop in blood pressure.
The death was announced on the band's official profile.
Worsening of the clinical picture
The artist took a turn for the worse and was currently in a very serious condition in the hospital. The worsening of his health condition was confirmed this Friday morning (26) by the singer's advisors. According to information obtained by CNN the worsening is due to the progression of the disease.
Inguinal Cancer
According to Denis Jardim, clinical oncologist and member of the Genitourinary Tumors Committee of the SBOC (Brazilian Society of Clinical Oncology), “inguinal cancer” is, in reality, not a specific type of cancer, but rather a set of cancers that can affect the inguinal region.
In other words, inguinal cancer often is related to the metastasis (spread) of other tumors to the groin region . Among the tumors that are related to the appearance of cancer in the inguinal region are bladder cancer, penile cancer, cervical cancer, vaginal cancer, anal cancer and colorectal cancer.
