Vodafone 5G network in 26 regions of Greece

Vodafone Greece, in an announcement, notes that the Vodafone Giga Network 5G is gradually expanding throughout Greece, aiming to achieve a population coverage of more than 40% by the end of March 2022, offering new, unlimited possibilities to citizens and businesses in from cutting-edge technologies.

Already, Vodafone’s 5G network has been activated in 26 regions of the country, which include the most important urban centers of Greece, as well as the most popular tourist destinations.

The Vodafone Giga Network 5G already covers with significant density the center of Athens, as well as most areas of both the Municipality of Athens and the wider area of ​​Piraeus. At the same time, Vodafone’s 5G network is constantly expanding to all the suburbs of Athens, while in addition its construction is accelerating in Thessaloniki, where the city center already has significant coverage.

Vodafone’s Technology Department is working hard to ensure that Vodafone Giga Network 5G achieves significant coverage in most urban centers and major tourist destinations in the country.

Specifically, the development of 5G continues in Patras, Heraklion, Chania, Larissa, Volos, Ioannina, Serres, Trikala, Lamia, Chalkida, Kavala, Xanthi, Kalamata, Orchomenos and Grevena, while the coming season and other urban areas will follow. . In addition, Vodafone is expanding its 5G network to tourist destinations in Greece, such as Santorini, Mykonos, Paros and Antiparos, Naxos, Rhodes, Halki and Halkidiki.

The construction of Vodafone’s 5G network is implemented within the framework of the company’s investment program of 600 million euros, with a horizon of 2025, which is in progress and aims to offer Greek households and businesses the most modern digital infrastructure and services , in order to contribute to the creation of a sustainable digital society with equal opportunities for all, without exclusions in Greece. And it follows the investment of 130 million euros for the acquisition of 5G spectrum that took place in December 2020.
