Vodafone Greece announces that it is accelerating the investment program for the construction of new generation networks at home (Fiber to the Home – FTTH) with the aim of expanding them to even more places in Greece, including in its design new areas that were left out previous major digital infrastructure project for the period 2016-2020. The purpose of the investment program is to accelerate the digital transition in Greece, as Vodafone will be able to connect by 2024 more than 800,000 households and businesses with FTTH networks and high-speed services, but also with FTTC networks.
In particular, the Network Management and the technical teams of Vodafone are currently constructing new generation networks in areas of Athens, such as the Nursing Home, Kypseli, the historic center, Koukaki, Pagrati and Neos Kosmos, while FTTH network construction works are underway. in the center of Piraeus and in Acharnes. Corresponding works are being implemented in Thessaloniki (historic center and Eleftherio – Kordelio), but also in Patras, Ioannina, Volos, Veria and Kozani.
In the next two years, Vodafone will proceed with the construction and development of new FTTH networks and other Urban Telecommunication Centers in Athens, Thessaloniki, Volos, Kozani and Ioannina, covering the internal rings, while it will include in its investment plan the coverage with FTTH areas. that were left out of the original plan.
Thus, at the end of the investment program, Vodafone will have its own network of FTTH and FTTC that will allow 800,000 households and businesses to access new generation services and will contribute to the digital transition of Greece, through an investment program of € 600 million. for the development of the best digital services and infrastructure in Greece.
