Vodafone: We support every effort for digital switchover and service upgrades

On the occasion of various publications, which also contain excerpts from documents that Vodafone Greece has submitted to the National Telecommunications and Post Commission (EETT), the company, in an announcement, points out that, having itself pioneered the digital transition with its investments ( being in fact the first provider to invest in fiber optics), supports every effort it makes to this end. Thus, it had welcomed from the first moment the announcement of OTE for upgrading the connections of Greek consumers, even declaring its commitment to implement the upgrade for its own customers, provided that this is always possible on equal and fair terms.

In order to ensure a fair competitive environment, it has submitted to EETT a relevant request for three months, which unfortunately has not been considered by the Commission until today, and whose hearing is scheduled for April 8, 2022. Therefore, it is not no issue of emergency “blocking” by the company, as incorrectly reported by press releases, but delays in processing a reasonable request for which the company is not responsible.

Vodafone asks EETT:

-To immediately enter into force the new model of margin compression control for OTE retail packages, which has been “frozen” since March 2021, when the relevant consultation was completed. It should be noted that today the control is done with the obsolete model of 2011.

Take immediate interim measures to protect the competitive market structure until economic reproducibility is ensured from the rest of the market, which in our estimation can only be achieved by ensuring an appropriate discount scheme not only at the one-time transition fee but also at monthly wholesale fee.

-To immediately start the process of updating the BULRIC + model of wholesale fees in order to take into account the current developments and changes that occur in the market, based on the change in demand.
