Vogue Talents: focus on sustainability

The usual event is renewed in a completely interactive format Vogue Talents, sponsored by the Municipality of Milan, dedicated to the international scouting of new generation creatives and designers who for this edition it will be entirely dedicated to responsible projects. «The World of Vogue Talents – The New Frontiers of Awareness» is the digital platform accessible here.

Vogue Talents is the scouting project of Vogue Italia launched in 2009 which, in addition to two printed issues per year, has more than a million users between social and web.

Having reached the first ten years of presence in the publishing scene, today it is a brand through which Condé Nast Italia supports the new generation of creatives, a solid multimedia platform that has established itself as a reference point for creatives from all over the world, a network of people and activities that connects people and companies, in a mechanism that is not only communicative but promotes business and new perspectives on fashion.

The platform will be open to visitors online by invitation only on 24 February and available to the international public from the following day.

The first edition, launched last September 2020, recorded more than 100,000 visits to the platform, with over 130,000 page views. «After the success of the first digital edition, Vogue Talents is back with an even richer and more complete informative offer. On the occasion of the launch of the platform, Vogue Talents will unveil the fruit of the collaboration with one of the most important educational realities of the art scene, to which the platform acts as a stage. Since the art and entertainment sector is going through a difficult period due to the forced break from the pandemic situation, Vogue Talents, always committed to supporting 360 ° talent, has chosen to offer the global visibility of the platform to the talents of the Paolo Grassi Civic School of Theater. To welcome the guests, in fact, will be a video that sees the artists of the Civic School of Theater Paolo Grassi engaged in dance performances “Entaglement – Seven short physics lessons” with choreography by Manuela Victoria Colacicco and the performers Martina Di Prato and Rafael Candela and “Vertigini”, choreography by Serena Zimolo who interprets it with Tommaso Cavalcanti. The dancers wear clothes and accessories signed by Act n ° 1, Agglomerati, Alessandro Vigilante, Calcaterra, Garbage Core, Marcello Pipitone, Persia, Simona Marziale – MRZ and Vièn. Since its foundation in 1951 by Paolo Grassi and Giorgio Strehler, the Paolo Grassi Civic School of Theater, directed today by Tatiana Olear, has been a training reference point for the Italian theater world for seventy years. Managed since 2000 by the Milan Foundation, it offers, unique in Italy, training courses for all the main professionals in the field of theater and live entertainment.

The section «Spotlight on Talents» is dedicated to the creativity of designers with a responsible approach: it will be possible to see the collections of the Korean Kwun Hyuk Kim of the Anchovi brand; Caes by Dutch director Helen de Kluiver; Commas designed by Australian creative Richard Jarman; the creations of Cormio by the Italian American Jezabelle Cormio; Mossi by the French Mossi Traorè; the Ssōne and SSDaley brands designed by British creatives Caroline Smithson and Steven Stokey-Daley respectively; Uniform of the French Hugues Fauchard and Rémi Bats and Yuzefi of the Iranian Naza Yousefi.

«Awareness Manifesto» is the area dedicated to the various issues concerning sustainability. Divided into two parts, one is dedicated to an in-depth study on the issue, with a series of Q&A regarding the most frequently asked questions relating to the responsible approach, and formulated with the contribution of some of the most influential personalities of the fashion scene including Orsola De Castro , Founder and Global Creative Director Fashion Revolution and Francesca Romana Rinaldi, professor of Bocconi University and author of Fashion Industry 2030. The second part is dedicated to the creativity of Matteo Ward (design studio WRAD) who, together with the artistic and graphic support of Sara Guazzarini, tells in an illustrated poster the importance of environmental sustainability within the fashion system, highlighting its critical issues and suggesting more responsible and concrete techniques to embrace a more ethical path.

One of the novelties of the 2021 edition of the event is the “How to buy responsible” section within which it will be possible to explore a selection of online stores, production companies, brands and places to visit, even virtually, with particular attention to environment and the desire to innovate.

The section «Mentoring», another novelty of this edition, will have inside videos dedicated to creatives and young people at the beginning of their careers who will be able to hear from the words of head hunters interviewed in video webinars the fundamental steps to find work in fashion: how to tell about yourself in the right CV and how prepare the fashion portfolio, up to how to face the job interview. «Editorial Contents» is dedicated to video contributions, exclusive interviews and a selection of podcasts dedicated to the world of Vogue Talents. These two areas will be updated periodically with new content.

Within the platform there will be the area dedicated to the launch of the second edition of «Vogue YOOX Challenge – The Future of Responsible Fashion»: the project by Vogue Italia and YOOX to support designers, creatives and start-ups who, through innovative projects, have decided to courageously invest in a responsible and sustainable approach to fashion and design – new for this year’s edition . For Vogue Italia and YOOX, supporting the new generation of creatives continues to be a challenge that must be faced in order to conceive a better future and raise awareness within the textile, design and clothing system.
