Vogue YOOX Challenge: the second edition kicks off

On February 22nd, on vogue.it and yoox.com, the second edition of Vogue YOOX Challenge – The Future of Responsible Fashion. The project of Vogue Italia and YOOX aims to support designers, creatives and start-ups from all over the world who have decided to invest in through innovative projects a responsible and sustainable approach fashion and design, a new category of this year’s edition.

The awareness that young people will be the main actors in the change in the textile, design and fashion system is the basis of the long collaboration between Vogue Italia and YOOX, which has always been at the forefront of supporting new generations of creatives.

Also this year, designers and start-ups are called to present new ideas, focused on sustainability, to change and improve the fashion and design system: from the concept, to the production process to retail. The challenge was on February 22nd during Milan Fashion Week and all applications must be received by July 2nd 2021 through the dedicated section on the yoox.com website.

The winner, to be announced next November, will receive a cash prize to develop and implement their creative idea in 2022, in addition to the support of Vogue Italia and YOOX for distribution, communication and mentoring.

The 2020 edition was won by Salty Co. with the project that aims to reduce the consumption of fresh water in the fashion supply chain, producing high quality natural fabrics deriving from plants capable of living in arid and salty soils and being irrigated with sea ​​water. The idea was born in 2020 by a group of students from Imperial College London and the Royal College of Art – Julian Ellis-Brown, Finlay Duncan, Antonia Jara and Neloufar Taher – currently working on the development of a collection in partnership with YOOX own label, 8 by YOOX.
